MDF B1 flame retardant – lightweight
MDF Firax – B1 flame retardant – lightweight
approx. 600 kg/m3 bulk density
Area of application
Fire-retardant lightweight MDF for general use in non-bearing dry environments.
MDF with low density and with a hard, finely sanded surface and a well screw-mountable core, with special fire-retardant properties. Suitable for industrial processing for interior decoration and furniture production. It can also be finished with paper, melamine, composite lay-ups or veneer. MDF Firax L is flame retardant (European fire behaviour class B) with has fire-retarding properties and helps prevent the fire from spreading. The boards emit low quantities of formaldehyde (class E1). Different national and international test reports are available.
Using the product
MDF Firax L is suitable for applications that required high fire resistance like fire doors or walls, and application areas in which low fire behaviour and propagation of flames is important, such as e.g. staircases, evacuation routes, elevator shafts, halls. The boards are used especially in public buildings like hospitals, airports, roadhouses, theatres, hotels and the like.
The boards must be used only according to use class 1 (restrictions for ambient temperature and humidity) and hazard class 1, EN 335-3. The boards must have no direct contact with water. Any stacking must be done quickly on a pallet or with a sufficient number of crossbeams. Boards must not be stored upright unless floor contact can be ruled out. Under fluctuating humidity conditions, the boards either expand or shrink. Use suitable tools for sawing, milling and drilling.
The fire-retardant products and paints in the boards can impair specific glues or varnishes in exceptional cases. Always carry out advance tests.
